What is Google AdWords?

Google AdWords is an advertising platform by Google. It allows advertisers to show ads on your Google’s ad inventories that include – Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs), search partners, and Google Display Network (GDN).

It’s is an auction based platform where advertisers need to place bids to win ad positions and to show their ads. It is also important to note that AdWords uses a second price auction system as its core system to decide various ad positions and actual costs for ads for different advertisers. It makes AdWords a unique advertising system where ads’ pricing is decided not only by the amount someone bids but by a combination of bids and ads’ quality scores.

It’s easy to spot an AdWords ad on Google SERPs, partner search engines, or on a web page, app etc. from GDN. Some of the examples ads from AdWords are given below. Usually, these ads have clear indications like – Ads by Google, Sponsored etc.
