AdWords Upgraded URLs: Testing Final URL with Tracking Template is now possible

Google includes a ‘test’ button next to AdWords Tracking Template field for Upgraded URLs.

Yes, it was a real pain testing the combination of Tracking Templates and Final URLs once you switched to Upgraded URLs. There was no way at all to test it.

However, I was using Ad Preview and Diagnostic Tool to test it. Hovering the mouse at the ad in the preview tool showed the complete URL in the browser’s status bar. Yes, that was the only method you could test your tracking template with. It worked for me on small accounts with lesser number of campaigns and ads, but again it was really difficult with the accounts which had hundreds of ad copies.

Landing Page Optimization for PPC – What to include and what not to?

Landing Page Optimization, no doubt, is one of the trickiest parts in online marketing today. No matter whether it is for AdWords, BingAds, Facebook Ads, or simply for Search Engine Optimization, the basics remain the same.  I usually get a lot of questions related to it during consultancy, training, or seminar Q&A sessions.

And the biggest question is – What to include and what not to?

To me, landing page optimization should not be confined to the inclusion or exclusion of particular page elements.

Let me list some of the questions which I usually get asked  –

  • Should have or not to have a contact form? 
  • Should place a phone number prominently on page or not? 
  • Should have links to internal pages through menus or not?
  • Should have explainer videos or not?
  • Should include several call to action buttons or not?
